Treasure Your Love
(love this movie!)
In a world where marriage has become less binding than a rental lease, I sometimes sit back and wonder what kind of example we have spread through our dominance in mass media. Other times I simply sit back with our awesome DVD player and watch incredibly funny movies with my husband and am reminded that at least my family and my children are going to know that marriage really is a blessed, eternal arrangement.

New Movies and Our Family.
Technology has created a new challenge that I really hadn't thought about until now. We relied for a long time on an impressive VHS collection of Veggie Tales, Winnie the Pooh, and a handful of classic family movies. We finally broke down and bought a DVD player recently ( my old RCA with auto tracking from my bridal shower made it to the trash) and suddenly the whole Walmart movie section is open to my curious kiddos. Now we're left with where to draw lines about acceptable and unacceptable. Modesty, violence, crude behavior, and language. Oh my stars is the language bad.
We've managed to find a few new ones I love, Tangled and the newer Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, and Up, the last one made me sob. Such devotion between a couple that we never seen in almost any media, let alone the kind that will shape children.
We also bought Facing the Giants and a Narnia movie for us older ones to watch first.
Christian movie recommendations highly recommended, especially if they're from the 5 dollar bin.

A favorite psalm that I remember in times of a peace and tranquility.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea,
though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no
evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

My turn for a song!
We've found an awesome resource for music listening, and have been listening quite a bit when we're stuck indoors. The bigger girls have been picking but I think its my turn to share. One of those songs that just stuck to my heart when I heard it.
"Oh, and hope is the soul of the dreamer
And heaven is the home of my God
It only takes one true believer
To believe you can still beat the odds
We're meant to be baby hold onto me
You'll never not be my girl (I'll never not be your girl)
'Cause love is the heart, love is the heart,
Love is the heart of the world"

Hard Times Come Again No More
Abby and Emily have been having fun posting a song of the day and they thought they posted this but it did not work. I'm hoping I got it, mom's not nearly as good with this stuff. :)

New baby!
Got on the computer to email family about the new baby and saw that Mama has this blog she never uses except to read testimony from other families. Daddy said I could post about my new sister here. Name not yet decide but ya'll she's just gorgeous. I'm now the oldest of 11 children.

Poor, neglected blog
This poor neglected blog hasn't been updated since before Jonathan was born. I had imagined using this to work with the kids writing, and keeping up with dear family we never see but I'm just not much of a computer person.
I do like the encouragement I find out on the web when I go looking for it. Sad to hear about Vision Forum closing, but praying for all involved that they find themselves back on the path with the Lord.
Also somewhat selfishly hoping some wise, brave person steps up to produce similar products! We love to look at their catalog every year.

The Arrival of Catherine Lydia and the news of the Woods.
We welcome Catherine Lydia about a month ago. She's happily settled in amongst her adoring brothers and sisters.
Lissie is expecting, praise the lord! There was one month, where all of us ladies (Ruth, Lissie, Megan, Laura, Me) were expecting at once, but I couldn't say anything because Lissie hadn't told anyone yet! Megan just had baby Basil (not the little ones real name! A nickname that started...somehow!) so with all the newborns around, it's made the wait that much harder for Lise and Meggie. Ugh, I just love it though. So much learning, and teaching, and growing to love the Lord.
"Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them. They shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate."

Birthdays, beginnings and a new baby.
Well since the last time I posted Michaela has turned 1, Emily has turned 9, and the newest and smallest member has been patiently growing ( now kicking quite a bit.) We've also discovered that come May, this newest member will be of the ribbons and lace wearing variety.
Lisie and Max got married a bit earlier, last Saturday. He's already getting ready for farm work and construction so they moved it up a bit!
Ruth is expecting again. Although she doesn't know her exact due date she's thinking September-ish.
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

Jamie's sister is getting married!!
The last of the "young maidens" as Mr. Ron used to call us will be married at the end of March! Such an amazing time, and an excellent man for her husband! Very exciting news in our neck of the woods right now, because in a way it means a change in the season for us. We aren't the young ones anymore, now it will be the nieces and nephews who will be learning and growing into future husbands and wives, eager to show their parents how much they've grown to love the Lord, and their families. Congrats Elise Fisher and Max Groff !!

Thanksgiving
It is written, “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.

The Airplanes That Didn't Work
Next to the girls names I got flowers that are able to show up, but for some reason the airplanes for the boys aren't working.
We're also picking out layouts. The bigger girls were ooing and ahhing over a lot of them but this was my favorite. Subject to change frequently though.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.

"Mainstream" Music.
We did a big house clean today ahead of my sister's wedding. I put on some of the music on my iPod, and realized with as much trouble as I have finding more clean "current" (or even older) music that I know the bigger girls will like, I'd post some of my favorites and if anyone wondered by they could share theirs.
(links go to youtube, meant for parents to preview and see if they fit their modesty standards)
If I Die Young by The Band Perry
Love Story by Taylor Swift
If You Believe by Rachel Lampa (a real favorite of ours, about knowing and waiting for the One, no matter what anyone else says)
Only Hope by Switchfoot

Bible Verse for the Week
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3: 5-6.
